ClickTock’s booking calendar isn’t a separate page you have to link out to — it drops straight into any WordPress page or post using a single shortcode. This guide covers the setup, the shortcode’s options, and a few common embedding patterns.
Before you start
Booking has to be switched on first:
- Go to ClickTock → Settings.
- Check Enable Calendar Booking.
- Save changes.
Once that’s on, the Booking Slots, Booking Requests, and Host Groups menu items appear under ClickTock, and the shortcode becomes active.
You’ll also want at least one open timeslot before you test the embed — otherwise the calendar will render correctly but show nothing to book. Create one from ClickTock → Booking Slots.
The basic shortcode
Add this to any page, post, or widget area that accepts shortcodes:
[clicktock_booking]
That’s it. Drop it into the block editor as a Shortcode block, or paste it directly into a Classic Editor post — either works.
With no options, it shows every open, pending, and closed slot from every host on the site, collapsed into one calendar. Visitors click a date, see the available times, and book directly.
Limiting the calendar to one host
If you want a page dedicated to a single person’s availability — a landing page for one consultant, for example — pass their WordPress user ID with the host attribute:
[clicktock_booking host="5"]
Only that user’s own slots show up; everyone else’s availability is filtered out. You can find a user’s ID by going to Users, hovering their name, and checking the user_id= value in the link that appears at the bottom of the browser window, or opening their profile and reading it from the page URL.
This works the same whether that user’s slots are standalone or part of a Host Group — if they’re in a group, only their own row of any shared time window is shown.
Note: the
hostattribute filters to a single WordPress user, not a Host Group. There’s currently no shortcode attribute to scope the calendar to one specific group — a page with the plain[clicktock_booking]shortcode will show every group’s (and every solo host’s) availability together.
Embedding patterns
A dedicated “Book a call” page Create a new page, title it something like “Book a Call,” and add nothing but the shortcode in the body. Link to it from your main navigation or a call-to-action button elsewhere on the site.
Inside an existing page The shortcode can go anywhere on a page alongside other content — under a section describing your services, for instance. It renders as a self-contained widget with its own calendar, day panel, and booking form, so it won’t interfere with surrounding content.
Per-team-member pages If each host has their own bio or landing page, add [clicktock_booking host="X"] (with that host’s user ID) to the bottom of their individual page, so visitors can book with that specific person without navigating elsewhere.
In a sidebar or footer widget Most WordPress themes support shortcodes in a Text/HTML widget. Because the booking calendar is a fairly wide, interactive component, it’s usually better suited to a full page or content area than a narrow sidebar column — but it will still render if you want a compact “Book now” prompt.
What the shortcode loads
When the shortcode renders, ClickTock automatically enqueues everything the calendar needs:
- FullCalendar (the calendar UI library)
- ClickTock’s own booking frontend script and styling
- A bot-protection widget (Cloudflare Turnstile or Google reCAPTCHA), if you’ve configured one under ClickTock → Settings
You don’t need to add any of this yourself — it only loads on pages where the shortcode is actually present, so it won’t slow down the rest of your site.
Customising the confirmation message
The message visitors see after submitting a booking request is configurable separately from the shortcode itself, under ClickTock → Settings → Booking Confirmation Message. Changing it there updates every embed of the shortcode across your site at once.
Troubleshooting
The shortcode just prints as plain text on the page Booking isn’t enabled yet — check ClickTock → Settings → Enable Calendar Booking. The shortcode is only registered while that option is on.
The calendar loads but shows no available times No open timeslots exist for the current date range, or (if you used host="X") that specific host has no open slots. Create some from ClickTock → Booking Slots.
A Host Group’s slots don’t show a “choose your host” dropdown That’s expected unless “Allow clients to choose the host” is turned on for that specific group, under ClickTock → Host Groups. Without it, the calendar assigns hosts automatically via round robin and visitors never see a picker.
